Install New License(s)

Help Topics > Admin > Install New License

Your vendor should now have you machine credentials and be able to generate a license file for you. This license file now needs to be installed on your license server machine before you can run any applications.

The license file(s) may be obtained from the vendor by either an automatic web update or by an offline procedure.

Automatic Web Update

If your license server machine is connected to the internet then this is the simplest and most convenient method of obtaining your license file. "connected to the internet" means that you should be able to open up a web browser (for instance Internet Explorer or Netscape) and be able to browse the internet. SFLM will automatically contact your vendor, download the file and install it. The license file will be added to your list of available license files and you should now be able to run your Vendors' software applications

Install Saved File

If your license server machine is NOT connected to the internet then you must use this mode. "..NOT connected to the internet" means that you cannot browse the internet with for example Internet Explorer or Netscape. The vendor license file(s) should have been shipped to you by some means for example as an attachment to an email, on floppy disk, or on CDROM. By clicking on Install License File" a browser window will pop-up to allow you to navigate to where you have saved the license file. By selecting the license file it will be added to the list of available license files and you should now be able to run your Vendors' software applications.

The SFLM server may have a number of license files installed. To view this list click on the Reports tab on the left hand side and then on the List Installed License Files option.
